Sit comfortably in an armless chair. Relax your arms to your sides. Point your forefingers towards the floor, firmly but without tension. Curl your fingers into loose fists. Now extend your thumbs so they cover the last three fingers curled up in your hands. Close your eyes about 75 percent and focus on an imaginary point a few feet from your nose.
Step One: Seven Minutes
Take a deep, five second breath. Inhale the air through your nose, softly ballooning your stomach as you fill your lungs. As you exhale, chant in a quiet voice the mantra Har Hare Hari Wha He Guru. Exaggerate your mouth with each vowel. Let the phrase come out slowly; each chant should take about six seconds or so. With every exhale-chant suck your stomach into your spine-don't force it, just let it naturally curve in. Repeat this step for about seven minutes.
Step Two: Two Minutes
After the verbal chanting, repeat the mantra to yourself without speaking it aloud. Listen to it in your mind.
Step Three: You will end by concentrating three deep breaths up into your chest. Start by inhaling through your nose to a count about five, filling up the top of your body. As you inhale, your spine should become erect, but not overly tensed. When you exhale, let your body relax, your shoulders fold in a bit, head hang-become the balloon half deflated. Repeat this two more times for a total of three breaths.
When you are ready, open your eyes. You have transcended your earthly self and are now clothed in a cloak of calmness, serenity, and good vibes that will cover you alll day. To end the ritual, chant "Har Hare Hari Wha He Guru." softly and once more.
