Hi. I wonder if anyone can help me crack this one... I dreamt about the grim reaper last night. I got into my building and I saw him, all in black, and it looked so real. except i didnt see his face. He told me i was going to die in a month, and i asked him if it really had to be, he said yes.
The thing is i felt comfortable with him, and i huged him. He seemed scary but i could feel warmth from him. I could feel his smell and comfort in his arms. I said: ''I like you'' and he replied ''please dont say that''. Then i woke up...
I know this sounds like a kids dream, but im wondering about the part where he said i was going to die in a month.
Does it mean something else to dream about it? besides the inevitable..? ty :)

Death is often symbolic of change, and the reaper could represent a part of yourself or thoughts that you might fear/reject/whatever, but need to accept in order to evolve. While anything is possible, I don't feel that you'll die in a month.

Thank you for your replies. I feel indeed something in my current situation has to change. But im generally afraid of change. Its either change for the unknown, or stay the same old same old. At least i feel better now, dont have to make any arrangements yet :D

actually, is there any way to look into the future and see what things would be like if i took a certain path? Some sort of divination?

Yes, there are many ways of doing this. Keep in mind, however, that the divination will not be written in stone, but presents the most likely outcome of events if you continue on a certain path. Change your trajectory, and it will change the divination, at least to a degree.

do you recommend scrying? I never done any kind of divination before

I'd recommend doing what feels more intuitive to you. Scrying is a viable method. I don't use it much personally, but I suppose that depends on your definition of scrying. Go with whatever you feel most "pulled" to, at least to work with at first, and try different things. You may find that some methods don't resonate with you, but others are very natural.

I've had many dreams that were in the realm of "you're going to die in....." Eventually went to the doctor and they found a few things that I saw in my dreams. Got medication and on observation now and the dreams stopped. I still need to get another area checked, the one that screamed the loudest in the dream. Bit of fear in that one.
In a way it was like my dreams were warning me that I had serious issues that needed addressed. It may be a one in a million shot that the dream may be similar for you, but it's another thought.

It was probably just a dream. As far as I believe, the Grim Reaper does not come to take your soul at death, but they instead operate in the equivalent realm Christians call purgatory. There they basically sweep up the soul's whom are no ready to enter heaven. Magicians can access this realm and interact with its inhabitants and as such many death and afterlife rituals are efforts to guide passage through it, but of relevance to Grim Reapers... also help a soul ascend - which is where awareness of Grim Reapers comes into it because you can see them come to collect a soul when its ready to leave purgatory.

From my experience, souls arrive in the Netherworld, not Purgatory....
...The Netherworld is a bit different.More than 95% of souls go through here at least twice, often more than that.Basically it is not a place of reward or suffering, but a place where souls can be cleansed of one life's burdens (most of them anyways), and prepared for the next life they need to undergo in order to continue their path.Grim reapers, as far as I can tell, are basically aspects of death, limited ones at that. Limited,at least,in what they can actually do.They are not able to actually kill anyone or harm anyone directly. Also, they work with "psychopomps," which are usually describing as certain types of animals, such as cats, crows, ravens, etc. Even once a soul arrives in the netherworld, the worst that will happen is the complete loss of most sensation.(To me though,it sounds like a very relaxing vacation.) Other than that, there is a noticeable loss of information from life due to the sudden transition from Incarnation (I.E:life) to Discarnation (I.E:death.)
Hopefully, this will help,it's a bit long but then there is a lot of information on the subject that could be useful.
The Grim Reaper came from the Bible AFAIK so I answered within that context. I personally see the place as being inbetween your definitions of Purgatory and the Netherworld but it sounds like it would be closer to your Netherworld for me.

I do have problems with Christianity as you can tell, especially with the interpretation of Death taught in this religion.Death itself is not tied to either morality or ethics as we humans define them, but to it's own role. This is the major problem for me here.Still,it does not excuse my behavior towards you,and I do hope that you will be able to forgive me for this.
Thats interesting, do you have a view on the Tibetan and Egyptian books of death which seem to provide guidance through states of death associated with physical morality and ethics?
No offence taken, I enjoyed your post. Death is a big topic!! If he was actually being visited by some form of entity associated with the bringing of death, then it might have been that his mind simply chose the representation of the Grim Reaper because that was the closest thing he'd understand..... in which case it might have been something else entirely to what I posted.

For some reason this reminds me of the Ankou. In which case so long as he's not angry you should be fine. Of course if you did make him angry you would most certianly know about it by now.

For what it's worth, there is always senior la muerte, the first murderer depicted in the grim reaper appearance. Depends on the modality you believe in, it may or may not be viewed as biblical in origin.

The grim reaper represents the piece of you that has to die so that the rest may live, or it could be one of the above situations that someone has posted. It could also be that you are going to die tomorrow, or maybe even next week.
Maybe it means something big is going to happen.
