I was staying at a friends house and we were getting some snacks in the middle of the night. (approx 4:13 AM) As we passed the living room after left his kitchen to go back to his room he saw I got a cold chill (that I paid no attention too) and he picked up the pace a little. Back in his room he said he saw 'something' sitting on the couch, looking at him in a mocking way. He then went on into a story about an when he was in another town about 2 years back and had an encounter with something. While he was walking the street (Around 3:00 AM (no bueno)) he had the feeling of being followed and continued walking back home. He saw something dart into the shadows and as he continued walking. Soon after branches in trees above him started breaking and other eerie events happened, he then sprinted back home. This was about 2 years ago. He now lives a few towns over from that area and has had roughly 7 or so actual encounters with it since then and countless 'feelings' of something. Every encounter it's only watching him, kind've mimicking him. All he's seen is a shadowy figure, wearing something resembling a baseball cap, he smells tobacco. It's never made a sound. He also feels emotionally drained after. Every encounter has been late at night, the earliest being around 11:00 PM. We put a sea salt line at his door and he says he feels like it's gone, for the night at least.
Also my friend is 19 and gay, if that might have some play as to why the spirit is following him. He also has some psychic ability, in the form of precognitive dreams and/or strong intuitive feelings.
I'm far from an expert in this field but if i had to make an educated guess it's a shadow person, or ghost that is feeding off his energy? Maybe something similar to a poltergeist that enjoys taunting him?
What I'm asking is the best way to get this spirit to leave him, he's told it to leave his room once before and it complied, but slowly. He's also told it to leave him alone but it hasn't. I suggested trying to talk to it or a sage smudge stick but i figured it'd be best to get a second opinion in case it's not just a normal spirit.
