I believe that "ndes" is an acronym for "near death experiences", although I could be wrong. I don't know that it ever seems normal to not breathe, unless one is underwater or otherwise holding their breath intentionally. An inability to breathe can make people think that they're going to die, so maybe that's considered normal during an experience like that?
