I've noticed a similar effect when I play the cello. It feels like once I start playing I literally fuse with the instrument, it becomes a part of me, and suddenly whatever music I'm playing doesn't matter anymore. I follow my hands, my intuition, and the literal feel of the cello. (when the cello resinates it resinates throughout your entire body, so you literally become a part of each note.) As for weather or not this is magic? Definitely is. I can't ascribe to doing something on the computer or technologically, but I can assert the power of music in the physical.

Yeah, this is something that I pretty commonly do. I play alot of instruments, but I feel it happens the most when i play guitar, or bodhran. Just close my eyes, and because of the muscle memory, plus the sounds themselves intuitively lead you almost into a state of mild meditation, or trance. You get to the point where you don't look or even feel where your going, you just let it happen.
