All magic was 'new' at some point. It was once 'new' to use parchment for recording one's magic, instead of stone or copper or bronze. It was once 'new' to draw a protective circle on the ground... no, I will not condemn anything for being new, only poorly researched and founded on opinion rather than fact. I do not wish ill on any of the new age people. Why would I want to tie myself to them with that sort of negativity? If I use negative force, it is not with a wasted function like that. Do I hope that they and their ignorance is exposed for the pure crap it is? Yes, and over time they have been and it shall be - though not from my efforts. Things I do not accept or that I am affronted with, I give no place in my world. It and they are dead to me and I expend no energy or thought in their direction except when asked or I feel especially moved to do so.
For instance I was kicked off a site when people began posting pictures of their sacred altar items all over the internet. All I did was remind them that such things are meant to be kept 'sacred' (thus meaning secret as well) and how could this be when their images are plastered all over the internet??? It shows no regard for the spirit for which these items were made, nor for the secretness of their practice. A barrage of insults and accusation fell upon me on that site merely for quoting ancient writ regarding magic and how it was supposed to be practiced. They expounded that they demanded tolerance, yet oddly enough would extend no tolerance toward any with opposing opinion. I never told them they couldn't do it, just that it was written that they shouldn't... So much for the open mindedness of the New Age. Some even wrote me privately with threats and curses... at which I laugh and still laugh. I have not been back since.
I would rather talk with people who wish to talk back, not get all dramatic and histerical like a bunch of scared children. I love it when people disagree with me, for then they are at least sharing something with me and being honest about it. I respect that. I honor that. Disagreements teach much, and opens the door of curiosity. I do have a nice study full of books, and I do have many new age titles in it as well. I keep them right next to the fiction section, and of course, the humor section. The more heavy duty stuff is kept in a closed cabinet bookshelf built into the wall with various inscriptions inside and outside it. Waiting inside that area is even more fun should any stumble there...
