Default Story about an Altar in a Cavern

Some times it might be hard to distinguish the occult from random events. This is a story that can be interpreted as no magical thing whatsoever or as a case where two worlds crossed with disastrous results.

A girl was walking in the woods when she suddenly got a feeling of dread. This was in the middle of the woods, and there was nobody there. So, she went home and let it go. Later, she had a conversation about this strange feeling she had with a friend. Her friend said that it couldn't be more scary then the altar the recently departed boy had made in the caverns there. The area was filled with caves, so deep under the ground he had made a creepy altar in the darkness. The boy who made it was hit by a car and died.

I got the story off a relative. I have some experience with sacrificial altars. I got one that has not been used the last two centuries, but I get a feeling of being watched and unwelcome when I am there. I told her that erecting an altar without giving sacrifice could force the Gods to themselves take the blood that belongs to them. People might die. I don't see definitive cause and effect. But, I do not want to ask the spirits if that altar is dangerous. Because I know that if it is powerful even asking about that place might be dangerous. Entering the cave is a perilous thing by itself. It involves climbing down in a small hole into the ground and climbing through narrow passages in the earth.

What do you think? Would you leave this place alone if you heard it, or would you investigate? I am confident that I made the right choice not to visit the place, but I wonder what you think about this whole thing.

Sometimes such stirrings are not necessarily bad but make us feel disturbed or afraid because they stir deep emotional responses that we usually dont have to deal with.

Sacrifice doesnt have to involve blood. It can be a place where offerings of incense or other itesm can be made.
