I think that if you could shoot fire from say your hands. After wards you would be in need of serious medical treatment. Those would be some serious burns, skin just isn't made for exposure to that kind of heat.
Two men can meet quicker than two mountains ever.
Of course!
Although, it is no longer considered 'occult (hidden) knowledge' and so is now in the realms of openly-sourced chemistry (al-chemistry, no less).
Any old tale of a mage employing fire from their hands would likely have been created by using a chemical reaction to provide visual effect, such as possibly using magnesium metal. Such materials have been used for a very long time and were predominantly the sole knowledge of the wise - usually considered 'magical work' by those who knew no better, which used to be the majority of people many years ago, hence the legends of powerful magic users and more specifically, alchemists.
Not forgetting that many a 'new' invention is but a re-invention of long lost technology. It's also feasible that such legends are descriptions of the early use of a primitive form of weapon such as those things we call 'Guns' today.
I know, I know, you were hoping to be told one can actually produce a literal fireball from ones fingertips, eh? I would love to be able to do that too, but sadly (perhaps fortunately!?) it is not possible, at least not in this dimension, anyway!

A mildly amusing story. I'm sure someone will know the two chemicals involved - I surely don't remember them, save they were two powders a friend of mine happened to procure and was storing in 2 plastic film canisters. He was explaining how he could make a ball of smoke with them and behold! What an impression it would make.
He's explaining this on a camping trip, shows us, then goes to replace the lids back on the canisters.
Of course, he mixed up the lids. it was pre-empted with an audible "Hm. Don't remember which lid came from which. Oh well."
Anyway he tucked these canisters in his vest.
Within about 45 seconds, he was on fire.
My cries of STOP DROP AND ROLL! were answers with his gasps of "No good! Burns without oxygen!" as he struggled to get the vest off.
The moral of the story is obvious..
.. don't mix up your lids.
Oh Gods - chemical burns!!!!
hahaha!!! Funny tale, Daisy, Thank You for the giggle!
Ut macro sic micro ergo supera et infera eadem sunt.
How blest am I
In my just censure, in my true opinion!
Alack! for lesser knowledge, how accursed
In being so blest! There may be in the cup
A spider steep’d, and one may drink, depart,
And yet partake no venom, for his knowledge
Is not infected; but if one present
The abhorr’d ingredient to his eye, make known
How he hath drunk, he cracks his gorge, his sides,
With violent hefts. I have drunk, and seen the
Spider.

Energy will basically respond to what you want, so if you envision the qualities of "fire" when projecting energy, for example, then in a sense you would be projecting "fire." If you hold and feel that notion of "fire" strongly enough, someone who is clairvoyant may actually see your energy that way, much in the same way that a clairvoyant will often see energy of particular colors that are intentionally projected. That being said, no, the projection of physical fire is not gonna happen without illusion or other magical tricks, as Iza pointed out.
And I'm going to leave this one alone, except to say that: 1) I agree totally and 2) Astral Eye is my new best buddy. It is what it is, ya dig?
Ha! Well, if you can get along with her, power to ya! I think she'd be a good fan to have. Hope your week's going better now.
